My Dearest Daughter

This is our first Mother’s Day and only one word comes to mind;

Thankful

Thankful that God sent your daddy to me to be my husband and best friend.

Thankful that God chose me to be your mama.

Thankful I get to spend every second with you and witness your milestones, even the little ones like when you noticed your legs for the first time in the car seat as you kicked them back and forth.

Thankful that even though my Bible is probably under a pile of laundry somewhere, God extends His grace to me over and over again.

Motherhood is probably the hardest thing I have encountered in my life so far but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. God has taught me how to be patient in this new (busy) season of life. Our home may never be clean again and I couldn’t tell you the last time I washed my hair but one thing is for sure…

You will always be surrounded with love.

You could not even begin to comprehend how much we love you.

Not only will you be loved by your daddy and I, but also by a Sovereign God.

He knew you before He formed you in my womb. He designed you just for us. He knows every hair on your head and every move you’ll ever make. He is constant and you can always count on Him. He will never leave you or forsake you. We may fail you in this life but He never will. Jesus is the only one who can truly satisfy you.

God didn’t give you to us, He loaned you to us. To raise you to the best of our ability.

You don’t understand any of this right now but some day you will.

I want to make a vow to you in honor of our first Mother’s Day.

I will:

  • Always Be Joyful- I will strive to be positive in everything. Always uplifting you with kind words.
  • Never Stop Praying – I will pray for you and with you every day.
  • Be Thankful – I will teach you that even though our circumstances aren’t always going to be perfect, we need to be thankful for each other and all that we have.

Motherhood is ________________.

HARD, like SO hard.

It didn’t really hit me that I was going to be a mom until they laid my baby girl on my chest. I looked up to my husband and said “we have a baby now”.

It wasn’t just me and him anymore. We have a tiny human we have to take care of. To be honest, I miss the time we had together by ourselves. I definitely took it for granted. If you don’t have children yet, soak up all the moments you have with just your husband. My husband and I are the sappy super in-love type of couple who tell each other “I love you” like every 30 seconds. Now, all my time is focused on our precious baby girl. Though I wouldn’t trade her for anything, I do wish I would have cherished every moment I had with my hubby.

Balancing a relationship with God, your husband, and your child is HARD and I wish someone would have told me that. My daughter is a month old and I’ve picked up my Bible once since she’s been born. Even though that makes me feel like a terrible Christian (another one of Satan’s lies) I try to give myself grace, just as Jesus would during this busy new season of life.

When the Lord gives you something wonderful, Satan is quick to try to steal your joy. He will fill your head with lies and make you think that you’re not a good mother, or that you need to throw in the towel with breast feeding, or that your husband isn’t attracted to you anymore. I have to remind myself that those are just lies from the enemy. My husband tells me almost everyday how good of a mother I am and that makes me feel a million times better.

Motherhood is also wonderful.

The first week of my daughters life, I cried every single day. I cried because she cried a lot, I cried because every time I thought I was gonna get some sleep, a doctor or nurse would come in, I cried because she was having a hard time breast feeding, I cried for no apparent reason, and lastly, I cried tears of joy because God blessed us with a healthy beautiful little girl. It’s hard to believe that my husband and I created such a perfect tiny human. Every night we just lay in bed and stare at her in awe of how great God is and how much we love her. All of her little sounds, movements, and facial expressions are what make our world go round.

Motherhood is a gift from God.

To me, there’s no better proof in the God of the universe than giving birth to a baby. And the fact that God chose ME of all the people in the world to be a mother just blows my mind.  There’s no one else in the world that can nurture my baby the way I can. There’s no one else in the world that can nurture your baby the way you can. We were all chosen specifically for our children to love them, care for them, and raise them to the best of our ability.
Motherhood is full of dirty diapers, no sleep, tears, spit up, piles of laundry, and showerless days but the best advice I can give you is:

Embrace motherhood and when times get hard give yourself grace, trust God, and remember that you were chosen by Him to be a mama

You can’t kick the enemy out of this world, but you can kick him out of your house.

The definition for the word declare is to make known, affirm, or to reveal. God spoke my life (and yours as well) into existence. We now have the authority to declare His promises over our own lives.  I struggle with this just as much as anybody. I tend to say negative things about my life, body image, and even my Christian walk. Most of the time my mind is filled with thoughts of how I am not good enough. But, I am because Jesus said so. The enemy cannot stop what Jesus is doing in our lives, His Kingdom will never be destroyed. So, today I am declaring to speak nothing but positive truths over my life. This morning I listened to a message by my aunt Kim and it has given me a new perspective of how I need to start confronting life daily. Kim is a beautiful, anointed woman of God. She loves Jesus more than anyone I know. I can’t think of one time that I have been around her and her not mention the name of Jesus. She is constantly declaring God’s Word over her and her husbands lives. And guess what? It works. Join me today in declaring God’s Word over our lives. When we focus on His truth, we will stop focusing on the lies that the devil has blinded us with. Let’s memorize His Word. Because, ‘His Word will not return to Him void.’ (Isaiah 55:11) You are a daughter of the King of Kings, so embrace it.

Examples of Declarations:

Beauty – I am made in the image of God. (Genesis 1:27)

Marriage – Nothing can seperate what God has joined together. (Matthew 19:6)

Sickness – You heal all my diseases. (Psalms 103:3)

Worry – I refuse to be anxious, I thank you God for allowing me to go through this situation, You will guard my heart and mind and give me peace. (Philippians 4:6-7)

Infertility – I will be a joyous mother of children! (Psalm 113:9)

Suffering –  After I have suffered a little while, God will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish me. (1 Peter 5:10)

Salvation – I was chosen by God before the world began. (Ephesians 1:4)

Safety – I will fear no evil because You are with me and You will protect me. (Psalm  23:4)

Gossip – I look out not only for my own interests but also for the interests of others. (Philippians 2:4)

Exhausted – I hold fast to the word of life. In the day of Christ’s return, I will have reason to glory because I did not run or labor in vain. (Philippians 2:16)

Financial – You will supply all of my needs. (Philippians 4:19)

I Never Knew You

Those are some harsh words. Just imagine right now that you were in what you thought was a good relationship with someone for a long time but deep down in your heart, you never really were fully committed to them and they said to you “I never knew you.” They could sense that you weren’t committed 100%. You weren’t really in love with them and most of them time you took them for granted. You didn’t really want to please them, just yourself….

Well unfortunately, that is exactly what is going to happen to a good majority of ‘believers’.

James 2: 19  “You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. 20 How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?”

Wow… read that again and let it sink in…

Even demons believe in God.

Trust me, you don’t want to spend an eternity separated from God. People will joke and say “Go to hell”, but if they understood what hell was really like, you would never wish that upon someone. It is a real place.

Matthew 13: 49  “That is the way it will be at the end of the world. The angels will come and separate the wicked people from the righteous, 50 throwing the wicked into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Most people spend their entire lives in church, knowing there is a God, but never really commit to serving Him, loving Him, and pleasing Him like they should. Do you know what His words to those people are going to be on Judgment Day?

Matthew 7: 21 “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. 22 On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ 23 But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.”

Those have got to be the most upsetting words in the entire Bible. They literally give me chills. I don’t want that to be me. I don’t want that to be you. If you believe in God….

Prove it.

  • do good
  • love God
  • love others
  • serve both

He loves you so much and desperately wants you to spend eternity in Heaven with Him. God wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. (1 Tim 2:4)

He is the only One who can save you.

Ephesians 2: 4 “But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)”

Embrace Grace

If you’re like me, you get very frustrated when you realize you’re not perfect. You see other people’s lives via Facebook and think “I wish I was as good of a Christian as (insert name) is…” or “God’s not gonna answer that prayer because I haven’t been as good of a Christian as I could be.” I even tend to think I don’t read/pray enough for God to bless me. That is a lie straight from the devil himself. I am the worlds worst at not accepting God’s gift of grace or embracing His promises for my life. I am a child of the King and today is the day that I start proclaiming that!

Grace is the unmerited favor of God, or, simply getting what we don’t deserve. We deserve hell. We are sinful, unrighteous humans. But by God’s grace alone, He has given us the gift of eternal life.

We are incomplete.

We fail daily.

We are insufficient.

But,

2 Corinthians 12: 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

He completes us.

He cannot fail us.

He is sufficient for us.

We have got to accept this. We cannot be perfect apart from Him. He is the only One who makes us righteous. When you don’t feel worthy or good enough, allow Him to complete you. He is always there when we need Him. God’s grace alone has the power to meet our needs. It is help in our time of need. It is enough. God’s grace is sufficient for us.

So let’s start today proclaiming His promises and embracing His grace.

Hebrews 4: 16 “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

John 14:14 “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”

Romans 8:32 “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?”

Typical Millenial

I do believe that this generation is going to make an impact in this world. Whether it be good or bad, I’m not sure. Over the past couple of years, I have noticed so many young people becoming Christ followers, which is absolutely incredible. But, on the other hand, I have also noticed a large number of young people turning their backs on God and proclaiming that ‘if it feels good, do it’.

When I turn on the news or social media, it seems like the ones who have turned their backs on God are taking over the world. America does not care about unborn babies, the sanctity of marriage, the image of God, and the list goes on and on. We have become a nation that is more concerned about pleasing our sinful nature than pleasing the the One who created us. I know what you’re thinking, because I have thought the same things too, “There’s nothing we can do about it.” Oh, sweet child of God, but there is. We can change the world.

It seems as if our generation as a whole (myself included) wants to be fed, but we don’t want to feed. We go to church because our friends do or only to get something out of it. Jesus Himself did not come to be served but to serve & give His life (Matthew 20:28). Since our Lord & Savior gave His life just for us and came only to serve others, can’t we do the same?

We want to be fed, but we don’t want to feed. -Rick Williams

If we rise up & put God in His proper place, we can make a difference. So many of us have put our trust in Him and started a foundation (which is important) but if we don’t build on it, then we are useless. Let’s start building.

My simple solution to taking over the world:

  1. Put God first – He should be above our spouse, family, children, friends, career, and even our ministry. I am so glad that young people are so eager to serve God, but if you’re spending more time doing stuff ‘for’ God than you are spending time with God then you’re not really putting Him first. Get in His Word daily and pray continually.
  2. Repent – Remove all sin from our lives. We are useless to God if we are living in sin. “Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.” Titus 1:16
  3. Have Faith – TRUST God, no matter what. You don’t know how powerful faith can be. Jesus once said, “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” This is still true today. You have got to believe that God will do what He said He was going to do.
  4. Listen –  If He’s calling you to start a small group and invite some of your friends who don’t know Jesus, then start one. Trust in Him and He will take care of the rest. If He’s calling you to go on a mission trip locally or internationally then trust His plan. He knows best and will take care of you. Whatever you think God is calling you to do, then do it.
  5. Tell someone – I struggle SO badly with spreading the Good News. Not because I am ashamed of it, but because I am shy and scared of someone getting mad at me. I know that is just a lie from the enemy himself. Which comes back to faith, Jesus just wants us to tell someone what He done for us and then trust Him to do the rest.

I truly believe this generation is going to make an impact on this world and if you do too then let’s DO SOMETHING! Much love.

If you’re spending more time doing stuff ‘for’ God than you are spending time with God then you’re not really putting Him first. -Brian Weems

There is a Reason for Everything

The phrase “everything happens for a reason” has been used millions of times over the years. People who go through trials and storms get tired of hearing it, I know I sure have in the past. But, after years pass, you start to understand that it is true.

There is a time for everything under heaven. We’ve had our hearts broken, lost a job, lost a loved one, struggled with finances, struggled with infertility, the list goes on and on. But, did you know… God knows every single detail to every persons life before it even happens.  Jesus warned us in John 16 that we would have suffering in this world. He didn’t say we might – He said that we would. Through suffering is how we become who we are. We become stronger and more patient. God wants to see us give Him glory through the hard times. All we need to do is trust His plan because He is sovereign. Enjoy your life and just be thankful for all the good thing that the Lord has blessed you with. Don’t focus or worry about the bad things. In the end, you will see that God’s plan for your life is far greater than your own.

Ecclesiastes 3

A Time for Everything

For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace.

What do people really get for all their hard work? 10 I have seen the burden God has placed on us all. 11 Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. 12 So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. 13 And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.

14 And I know that whatever God does is final. Nothing can be added to it or taken from it. God’s purpose is that people should fear him. 15 What is happening now has happened before, and what will happen in the future has happened before, because God makes the same things happen over and over again.

Matthew 6:25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? 31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”

Much love.
